Talisay councilors ask Capitol for mini ambulance

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilors Danilo Caballero and Richard Francis Aznar have asked the provincial government to donate a mini-ambulance to barangay Camp 4 to be used for emergency cases in neighboring barangays.

In a proposed resolution, Caballero said disasters such as flash floods and landslides are prone to happen in mountainous barangays particularly barangay Jaclupan, Camp 4, and Manipis.

Barangay Camp 4 is strategically located and therefore would be the perfect place to put an ambulance.

“The burden of transporting individuals who need serious medical attention in aforementioned barangays may lessen if they will be provided with a mini ambulance, the proposed resolution states.

Caballero said the city has intensified its preparedness towards disasters by convening the new members of the Talisay City Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to formulate a disaster management plan which includes the creation of disaster preparedness task units.

“It is a policy of the State to uphold the people’s constitutional rights to life and property by addressing the root causes of vulnerabilities to disasters and ensure public safety at all times towards effective delivery of services to its constituents,” the resolution reads.  (FREEMAN)
