Homeowners seek help to acquire right of way

CEBU, Philippines - Members of the Sitio Mahayag Homeowners Association in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, are asking the city government to negotiate with a private lot owner for the acquisition of a road-right-of-way which can be used as service road.

The homeowners made the request through Barangay Captain Marietta Bucao. The association sought the assistance of the barangay to purchase the 45-square meter access road.  However, the barangay does not have the needed amount to buy the property because it would cost at least P150,000 at P4,000 per square meter.

“The limited funds constraint us from affording them with the desire services they need, specifically providing funds to acquire the necessary road right of way,” Bucao said in her letter addressed to Mayor Johnny De los Reyes.

Close to 100 residents signed the letter request addressed to Bucao after the lot owner closed the road.

“Nagkalisod na among kahimtang karon sukad nasirado ang kanhi agianan gikan sa kapilya sa Sitio Mahayag paingon sa dalan sa barangay,” the letter of the residents read.

The private lot owner decided to close the road as they will be constructing a perimeter fence in the area. –/FPL (FREEMAN)
