CEBU, Philippines - The Traffic Enforcement of Mandaue (TEAM) has apprehended 50 tricycle drivers in Mandaue City for driving without franchises.

TEAM director Edwin Ermac said the drivers were  issued temporary operator’s permits and fined P6,000.

In previous cases, violators were fined P500, the prescribed amount, and charged a towing fee of P400.

But in a bid to discipline the drivers, the city now issues a TOP which comes with a P6,000 fine.

Ermac said of the more than 2,000 tricycles operating in Mandaue, only about 1,500 have franchises.  (FREEMAN)
