August’s index crimes in Talisay lower than July’s

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City registered 123 index crimes in July this year but the number fell to 103 last month, police station officer-in-charge Superintendent Resty Santos said.

Index crimes include robbery, theft, physical injury, rape, stealing motorized vehicles, cattle rustling, and murder.

Santos said robbery in July reached 38 cases but fell to just 18 in August.

The plunge could be attributed to the arrest of notorious robber Joshuz Tabera last month in barangay Lawaan III.

July had 77 cases involving thievery but the number fell to 75 last month. Most of the cases reported involved water meters.

In July, the city police recorded two murder cases and also two in August but these were solved.

The police have no record of rape cases or cattle rustling in both months. (FREEMAN)
