Lapu-Lapu councilors wear Barong Tagalog with a tie as uniform
CEBU, Philippines - Members of the Lapu-Lapu City council are now required to wear a uniform, a Barong Tagalog with a tie.
Failure to do so will prevent them from participating in discussions and deliberations, or, they just might be asked to leave the session hall, if politely.
The wearing of uniform is found in the council’s recently approved internal rules.
Councilor Florito Pozon, chairman of the City Council’s Committee on Laws, said the council would enforce the rule because it would be awkward if it closed its eyes to councilors who defy the rule.
“Nindot man sad gud tan-awon nga presentable ang atong mga opisyal sa dakbayan sa Lapu-Lapu,†a resident of the city who attended the session last Wednesday said. (FREEMAN)
