Talisay stops limestone hauler for lack of permit

Garry B. Lao - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government has ordered the temporary stoppage of hauling operations in barangay Lagtang for lack of permits from government agencies.

Mayor Johnny De los Reyes, city Councilor Danilo Caballero, and acting police city chief Resty Santos apprehended four dump trucks allegedly belonging to QM Builders for operating without permits, such as a special disposal permit and a hauling permit.

“For the meantime, the mayor hold the hauling operation. Upat ni ka mga dump trucks nga naghakot og anapog gikan sa giguba nga bukid sa barangay Lagtang ang gipadakop ni mayor,” city information officer Vince Monterde said.

Residents have complained about the operation, claiming it exposed them to danger.

QM Builders is the official subcontractor of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the ongoing P52.6 million road widening project of the access road of the Talisay-Toledo wharf.

Last Sept. 2012, a landslide occurred in two sitios in Camp 4, which forced about 65 residents to safer areas.  (FREEMAN)
