Mandaue warns water vending machine owners
CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City will leave water vending machines alone if these conform to sanitation rules.
City health officer Dr. Edna Seno made the assurance after vending machines in Cebu City were seized by the city government two weeks ago.
Seno said the city will be gentler with operators considering that their business is legitimate.
She said operators should place the machines inside stores, away from the dust.
Last week, the city legal office ordered 17 machine owners from operating after a water analysis showed water from their machines tested positive for coliform bacteria such as E. coli, which can cause diarrhea.
The operators were given seven days to explain why the city should not revoke their business permits. (FREEMAN)
