Mandaue to send demolition notices to illegal settlers that reside along creek

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government will continue to clear its waterways of illegal structures.

It will now start to send notices to the 500 families that live along the Mahiga Creek in barangay Subangdaku.

Housing and Home Site Regulation officer Tonypeth Juanico said he hopes the families will voluntarily tear down their houses before the city begins with the demolition on October.

These families are beneficiaries of the 6.5 hectare relocation site in barangay Paknaan.

Last year, the city tore down 130 houses that were illegally built along the Mahiga Creek in sitio Oril, barangay Banilad.

As of the moment, the city is busy clearing sidewalks in anticipation of the city’s Charter Day anniversary which will be celebrated on Aug 30.
