CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government is set to buy five electronic billboards worth P6 Million to be installed in the strategic locations in the city.

City administrator James Abadia said such billboards would help disseminate information especially during calamities.

He said the amount will be taken from the city’s disaster risk and reduction management fund.

Abadia said the billboards will be installed on the skywalks at U.N. Ave., barangay Jagobiao, barangay Subangdaku, barangay Centro, and near the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.

He said the billboards will show traffic advisories especially during typhoons or floods.

While on ordinary days, the billboards will show the time and date as well as temperature.

Abadia said they city plans to install the billboards early next year.

Next month, the city will also install modern traffic lights in 14 major road intersections.

The traffic lights will be equipped with closed circuit television cameras and will flash signs for persons with disabilities.  (FREEMAN)
