CEBU, Philippines - The municipality of Minglanilla, in coordination with the Rotary Club of Cebu Minglanilla, Outstanding Youth for Entrepreneurship, Education and Arts (OYEEA!), and the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will sponsor a forum for the youth.
Vice Mayor Robert John “Jojo†Selma said the youth forum dubbed as “Tingog, Barog Batan-on†which will be held on July 14, Sunday, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Shrine Multi-Purpose Center, aims to bring together the youth, their organizations, and different stakeholders who are involved in the town’s youth development.

“It is our responsibility to guide our youth in their transformation for them to engage and stand at the forefront of nation building,†he said.
Rotary Club of Cebu Minglanilla president-elect and OYEEA head convenor Francis Gerard “Jigger†Cañedo said the forum is prearranged to become a convergence for the youth and make it a prologue towards institutionalizing youth programs of the towns.
Facilitators from the Archdiocese of Cebu and Teresian Association through Vilma Laranas will assist the youth in this whole-day event. The Deliverance for the Uplift in the Wonders of the Art (DUWA) of Rev. Fr. Loreto Jaque will also facilitate the gathering through its expertise on expressive arts.
Cañedo said it will help the municipal government draft programs that will address challenges among the youth that affect their growth and development, education, religiosity, culture, and their exposure to social media.
This public-private partnership (PPP) involving the youth is the first ever program that evolved in Metro Cebu, but Cañedo said he hopes it will be replicated by other places.
