Naga willing to spend for SWAT's creation
CEBU, Philippines - The Naga City government wishes to create a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
Mayor Valdemar Chiong said he has talked to police provincial chief Senior Superintendent Patrocinio Comendador about his plan.
Chiong said the city government is willing to shoulder all the expenses for the training of selected police officers and the city is also willing to buy all the necessary equipment and gadgets including firearms and vehicles.
But the mayor wants SWAT members to stay in Naga City for at least five years before they are to be given another assignment.
Chiong said having a SWAT team in Naga will be beneficial to neighboring cities and municipalities.
He said Naga is growing fast and needs more than 70 police personnel.
As of now, it has only about 40 police personnel. (FREEMAN)
