Outgoing vice mayor, councilors to deliver valedictory speeches
CEBU, Philippines - Outgoing Talisay City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao and four out-going city councilors will deliver their valedictory speeches today.
Their terms end on June 30.
Outgoing City Councilor Rodi Cabigas, who is the majority floor leader, said the outgoing city council members, which include him, will have an opportunity to deliver their valedictory speeches before their terms end.
Bucao lost to city Councilor Romeo Villarante while Cabigas and Odilao are on their third and last terms.
Celiapo Cabuenas, who lost in the mid-term election, came in 11th and will reportedly run for barangay captain in Lagtang.
Cabigas said delivering valedictory speeches has always been the practice in the city council.
The incoming city council will be dominated by the Alayon party.
Talisay City Councilor-elect Doroteo Emit, along with fellow city councilors-elect Richard Francis Aznar, Dennis Basillote, Edward Alesna, incumbent Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, Antonio Bacaltos Jr., and Eduardo “Digul†Gullas III, are members of Alayon and compose the majority bloc at the city council.
Councilors-elect Danilo Caballero, Valeriano Ylanan, and Aldin Diaz are allies of Delos Reyes of the Liberal Party and will comprise the minority bloc. (FREEMAN)
