Who spent more, less in May 13 elections
CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes spent P54,000 more than what mayoralty rival Victor Biaño had used up during the May elections.
The Statement of Contributions or Expenditure (SOCE) shows Cortes spent 489,119 while challenger Biaño spent P444,000.
For the vice mayoralty race, re-elected Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede spent P48,335 while his opponent Benjamin Lugae failed to submit his SOCE.
In the race for seats in the city council, former PB Wenceslao Gakit who ran as an independent, failed to file his SOCE .
He lost in the election.
City Councilor Emmarie Ouano-Dizon spent more than any of the winning councilors with P267,107 while Benjamin Basiga’s SOCE shows he only spent P46,500.
Ouano-Dizon emerged the No.1 city councilor.
Councilors Beethoven Andaya spent (P47,000), Jimmy Lumapas (P50,000), Diosdado Suico (P90,905), and Nenita Layese (P100,000).
Councilors Demetrio Cortes Jr. spent (P205,580), Jefferson Ceniza (P152,892), Editha Cabahug (P145,000), and Elstone Dabon (P103,000).
Assistant Comelec officer in Mandaue, Jacqueline Reuyan said their documents will be sent to the main office in Manila that will assess the documents. (FREEMAN)
