Samsam to distribute school supplies today
CEBU, Philippines - As classes for school year 2013-2014 officially commence on Monday, first district Congressman-elect Gerald Anthony “Samsam†Gullas will distribute school supplies in Talisay City today.
Gullas said the “Edukasyon Para sa Maayong kaugmaon Program†will encourage students to stay in school and study hard for a better and brighter future.
Gullas will be at the San Jose covered court in Barangay Lawaan III today for the distribution of some school supplies and to carry out a feeding program for at least 1,000 children.
As of last Monday, 41,769 students had enrolled in Talisay City’s public schools.
Talisay Schools Division Superintendent Woodrow Denuyo said 28,333 elementary students enrolled this year, which showed an increase compared to last year’s 26,037.
In the secondary level, a significant decrease in the number of enrollees was noted.
Only 9,930 students enrolled this year compared to last year’s 11,558. (FREEMAN)
