CEBU, Philippines - The Mactan Cebu Bridge Management Board is addressing the traffic situation along the United Nations Avenue leading to the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge where an international school is located.

MCBMB chairperson, acting Governor Agnes Magpale, called an emergency meeting yesterday to take up the concerns of the officials of the Royals Oaks International School in barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City.

At the meeting, school president Dr. Socorro de Guia said the problems in the area involve the intersection of UN Avenue-Plaridel St. and in the lane divider fronting the campus.

“With classes soon to open, we would like to hear that there’s a solution to the traffic problem here,” Guia said.

Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) chief, Edwin Ermac, said he will consult Mayor Jonas Cortes and the Department of Public Works and Highways regarding the school official’s concerns.

“They have realized that there is really a problem there. Hopefully we’ll have a permanent solution to the traffic there because accidents have happened,” Guia told reporters after the meeting.

Magpale set another meeting on June 13 to finalize the solution to the problem.  (FREEMAN)
