Two fires in Cebu City
CEBU, Philippines - Within a span of three hours, two fires broke out in barangay Pahina-San Nicolas and in barangay Zapatera, Cebu City yesterday.
A three-story building caught fire along Tres de Abril at around noon. Damage to property was put at P250,000.
The building, made of mixed materials and occupied by three different electronic shops, was owned by Roger Balila.
The Cebu City Fire Station said the fire started at the second floor of the building owned by Anthony Wang, owner of the Good Lion Marketing.
Fire investigator has yet to determine what triggered the fire.
Cebu City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector William Tacaldo said firefighters had difficulty putting out the fire quickly because the windows had grills.
He said a saw had to be employed to cut the grills.
No one was reported injured by the fire.
In another development, the former building of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) which was converted into a stockroom caught fire at around 3:18 p.m.
The fire reportedly started from a compost pit near the building.
Firemen pegged the damage at P50,000. (FREEMAN)
