Mandaue Comelec officer guarantees smooth voting

Bong Soriano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Newly installed Commission on Elections officer in Mandaue City will set in motion new rules on May 13 for fast and comfortable casting of votes.

During a regular press conference at Mandaue City hall yesterday, Edwin Cadungog said each polling precinct will have two lanes, one for the “regular lane” and the other for the “express lane,” which is intended for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and members of the PNP, soldiers on duty, and media people that will cover the counting and other related matters.

Cadungog said city voters should memorize their precinct numbers, precinct location, and sequence number posted at the locator chart at the entrance of the school or visit the Comelec office for confirmation prior to entering their precincts to avoid delay.

On election day, no priority number will be given to anyone or any political party.

Cadungog said PCOS machines will be distributed to 205 clustered precincts on May 7.

The machines will be tested and sealed the next day.

After the sealing, the PCOS machines will stay at the assigned precinct which will be guarded by the police until the day of the election.  (FREEMAN)
