One dead, 1 hurt in Naga shooting

CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead while another was wounded while having a drink at an arcade in Naga City last April 28.

Killed was Kristo Jay Pañedo while Al Donnel Lupangco was seriously wounded.

Police said the two men had quarreled with a man who turned out to be armed.

Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong yesterday described the shooting as disturbing, considering the store is just a stone’s throw away from city hall.

“The undersigned finds this bloody incident alarming considering the relative peace in this locality and that the city government has even tapped the services of a private security agency just to beef up the local police office in the maintenance of peace and order,” Chiong said in his letter to Supt. Eduardo Saavedra, the city police chief. (FREEMAN)
