Talisay Comelec to test PCOS transmission
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Comelec officer Corazon Moran yesterday said a field transmission test will be conducted next week as soon as the training of all Board of Election Inspectors assigned in the city is finished.
Some BEIs to be trained at VillaTeresita are teachers from the Department of Education.
The training will only be held for a day but the teachers will be given the whole night to familiarize themselves with PCOS machines, which will be tested the following day by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) accreditors.
“We will conduct it next week,†Moran said.
She said the workability of the machines in certain sites will be verified and determine possible operational glitches or problems that might come up during the elections.
Records at the Election and Barangay Affairs Department in Manila, shows 340,681 registered voters in the first district as of November 19, 2012. The number in 2010 was 297,914.
Six local government units comprise the first district, namely, Talisay City, Minglanilla, Naga City, San Fernando, Carcar City, and Sibonga.
Of the six, Talisay City has biggest number of registered voters with 111, 696 as of 2012 compared to 2010’s 94,156.
This is followed by Carcar City with 58,088; Naga City with 55,646, and Minglanilla with 50,816.
The towns of San Fernando has 37,770 while Sibonga has 26, 662. (FREEMAN)
