Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale yesterday turned over five multi-cab and one motorcycle to six barangays in Mandaue City.

In a brief turnover at the city hall grounds, Magpale said ordered the release of these vehicles after three barangay captains from the city came to her office to inform her about the promise of suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to give them multicabs.

The recipients of the multi-cabs include barangays Cambaro, Casuntingan, Banilad, Maguikay, and Umapad.

Barangay Looc received a Honda motorcycle.

The turnover was covered by a memorandum of understanding signed by Magpale, Mayor Jonas Cortes, and barangay captains.

“Dili ni pangpanggukod ang akoa. I am equalizing the opportunities for everybody,” Magpale said.

She said checks for P100,000 in assistance to six of the 12 barangays that have not received their share are ready for release.

Mayor Jonas Cortes in a later interview welcomed the assistance saying these vehicles will definitely help barangays deliver the basic services to constituents. (FREEMAN)
