Concessionaire seeks TRO against MCIAA

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu Regional Trial Court Branch 53 will look into the petition of a businesswoman seeking a Temporary Restraining Order against the Mactan Cebu International Airport to stop the implementation of the renovation of the Pasalubong Center at the airport.

RTC Branch 53 Presiding Judge Ana Marie Militante yesterday informed both parties that their manifestation will be the basis for her decision.

Both parties have been given time by Judge Militante to present their testimonies and manifestations.

Nora Lanohan, represented by lawyer Evelyn Cinco, filed a petition in court to stop the implementation of the renovation.

Cinco cited that they question the validity of the bidding, which Cesar Food- land has been given the authority to do the renovation.

Aside from questioning the conduct of the bidding, Cinco said they also have no information of the project being awarded to Foodland.

She further said that they have asked the officials of the MCIAA but their request was ignored.

But MCIAA legal officer Glenn Napuli said the conduct of the bidding followed the rules and regulations.

He said the project was awarded to Cesar Foodland.

According to Napuli, Cesar Foodland applied for an P8 million loan for the project.

He said the renovation is part of the national government program Public and Private Partnership.

The FREEMAN learned only Lanohan, among the affected airport concessionaires, protested.

Lanohan also questioned the action of MCIAA officials.

The court ordered MCIAA to submit its answer within ten days after the petition was filed. (FREEMAN)
