Comelec in Talisay asks LP to submit notarized statement of expenditures
CEBU, Philippines - The Commission on Elections has asked the Liberal Party to submit a notarized statement of expenditures for last week’s proclamation rally in Talisay City.
Last February 19, the LP, led by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, held a proclamation rally at the Tabunok Sports Complex in Talisay.
Talisay City Councilor Romeo Villarante, who was one of the facilitators of the rally, said the LP spent P155,600 for electricity, rent for the sound system, chairs, 12 tents and one tent with air conditioning, which was not used.
Talisay City Comelec officer Corazon Moran said yesterday that LP already submitted a “notice of public rally,†which is one of the requirements for the holding of a political party.
She also said LP also showed the draft of a statement of expenditures and was expected to have submitted it by yesterday afternoon.
But according to Moran, today is the deadline for LP to submit its statement of expenditures.
A Comelec rule gives a political group seven working days to submit a notarized copy of its statement of expenditures after the holding of a rally. (FREEMAN)
