Traffic lights system in CSCR hard to fix

Brenda Batuto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The traffic lights system at the Cebu South Coastal Road in barangay San Isidro in Talisay City has been inactive for a month now and the chances of reviving it is slim the fact that it is twenty years old.

Vice Mayor Alan Bucao, chairman of City of Talisay Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA), said the mother boards of the traffic lights are obsolete and therefore difficult to repair.

Bucao said the city had thought about operating the system manually but it has no information technology expert to do the job.

He said the former job order of the city that was assigned to the traffic engineering office and tasked to repair the traffic lights system was absorbed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Bucao said the job order employee had already made it clear that the traffic lights system would be difficult to repair because it is an old model.

Bucao said he had asked the chief of the traffic enforcers to assign enforcers in the area to man the traffic but he cannot oblige him to heed his order because there is only a small number of traffic enforcers as of the moment.

Bucao said he is still waiting for a reply from the mayor with regards his request for more enforcers. — (FREEMAN)
