Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A woman lost a leg while a companion was injured when the car they were riding in slammed into the wall of a flyover in barangay Banilad, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Carina Gabudo, 21, and friend Junichi Jose Dizon Kuribayashi, 19, were taken to different hospitals.

PO2 Edgardo Becoy of Cebu City Police Office’s Traffic Section said Gabudo and Kuribayashi, who are both residents of barangay Talamban, were on their way to the downtown area on board a Mazda Sedan (YJD 242) when the accident happened.

The car, which also hit a signage, turned upside down.

Gabudo was thrown away due to the impact.

The accident caused a slight traffic in the area.

Becoy said the police have yet to determine who drove the car.

They found Kuribayashi’s driver’s license, though.

Becoy said the victim’s family sought their help in looking for the leg, which was found a few hours later.  (FREEMAN)
