Talisay set to build more classrooms

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government will take out P12.512 million from its Special Education Fund (SEF) to construct school buildings. 

The local school board, chaired by Mayor Socrates Fernandez, approved the release of P29.976 million, of which the P12 million is for capital outlay or for the construction and restoration of school buildings in public elementary and high schools. 

The expenditures under the capital outlay are as follows: restoration of Gabaldon Building Phase II and the construction of a two-story-four classroom building in Talisay City Central School; construction of a two-story-four classroom building in Lawaan III National High School; construction of a two-storey-four classroom building in Pooc National High School, Mohon Elementary School and San Roque Elementary School; construction of a fire exit stairway in Lawaan Elementary School. 

Other structures include the improvement of the butterfly sanctuary in Jaclupan National High School; improvement of the school stage in Talisay City Science High School; construction of a school drainage in Tabunok Central School; construction of perimeter fence in Maghaway Elementary School and Tabunok National High School.

It also includes the purchase of furniture and fixtures and armchairs in San Isidro Elementary School and Tabunok National High School. 

Bacaltos said the expenditure for the year also include the maintenance and other operating expenses. 

It includes the honoraria of the 160 teachers aide volunteers amounting to P9.6 million; 

Financial Aid to division/regional/national curricular and co-curricular activities and financial aid to division, regional and national sports and athletic competitions such as the Palarong Pambansa, Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet (CVRAA), and Sinulog sa Kabataan, among others. 

It also includes electricity expenses and consultancy service-legal consultant.  (FREEMAN)
