Vehicle owner seeks reply from contractor

CEBU, Philippines - A man whose vehicle was damaged after an electrical pole fell on it last November in barangay Camp 4, Talisay City has asked city Councilor Danny Caballero to help him request a road widening project contractor to pick up the tab for the vehicle’s repair.

Noel Abrica of sitio Kimba, barangay San Roque, Talisay City said his driver Junnel Taño was driving his L300 FB when the pole fell and hit the rear of the vehicle.

After the incident, Alan Quirante of QM Builder the contractor promised to pay for the repair of the vehicle.

But Abrica said he has yet to receive any financial assistance from QM Builder.

Willy Abatayo, project manager of QM Builder, said yesterday the company will meet all its obligations.

He said he has already sent an incident report to its main office and this need to be followed up.

He also said the main office is busy with several transactions and Abrica’s complaint may have been overlooked.

Last week, Letecia Alcoseba died while Jovy Laborada was injured after they were hit by a rock that rolled from a hill in sitio Tangub, barangay Lagtang while traveling on a motorcycle taxi from barangay Jaclupan to Tabunok.

QM Builder shouldered all the financial needs of the victims.

Due to the incident, city councilor Danny Caballero proposed a measure yesterday morning requesting the city mayor to issue an order for the temporary halt to road widening.

But the council sent the proposal to the committee on environment saying it has to respect the mayor who said the widening has to continue because it is a government project and the time to finish it has been set.

The council will gather representatives of QM Builder and DPWH to a meeting to discuss the incident that happened last week.  (FREEMAN)
