Scavenger, 17, shot
CEBU, Philippines - A security guard assigned at a construction site in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City shot and seriously wounded a 17-year-old boy while scavenging with two companions Monday evening.
Neighbors took Alexander Callecuis of sitio Ekasig in barangay Marigondon to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital for wounds on the right portion of his body.
The attending physician believes the boy was shot with a shotgun after finding pellets in the wounds.
Security guard Jefrel Matus of Archangel Security and Investigative Agency was not at work when the police went to see him at Dakay Construction.
Residents in the area said three boys could have been searching for things when they suddenly heard a gunshot at around 8 that morning.
They said they saw the boys running but did not know one of them was already wounded. — (FREEMAN)
