“Frat member” shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged member of Tau Gamma Phi was shot dead while asleep outside his house in sitio Sta. Maria, barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City early morning yesterday.
Roy Lord Durano, 26, was shot in the head by a still unidentified assailant.
Durano was rushed by his father, Robert Durano, to the Lapu-Lapu District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The body was taken to Mountain View Funeral Homes for autopsy.
The police are looking at the personal grudge angle as the likely motive of the killing for the reason that Durano reportedly had a verbal argument with a motorcycle-for-hire driver and a certain “Kikirâ€, who had allegedly threatened him.
PO2 Winston Ybañez, homicide investigator, said Durano decided to sleep outside the house around 11:00 in the evening of Tuesday when he could not sleep due to the heat.
A few hours later, Robert heard a single burst of gunfire.
Based on information gathered, Ybañez said Durano had an argument last December 25 with a certain “Kikir,†who will be invited for questioning.
“Mao ni katapusan niyang naaway atong miaging tuig pero pangitaunon pa gyud ni namo,†Ybañez said in a phone interview.
Ybañez also disclosed that Durano had a pending case for homicide which he committed in 2002.
A warrant was released just recently for Durano’s arrest.
Ybañez said he will check the files to verify whether Durano had other pending charges. (FREEMAN)
