Talisay City has new police chief
CEBU, Philippines - Superintendent Elmer Lim is the new Talisay City Police Station chief.
Lim takes over the functions of former station chief Superintendent Eddie Recamara.
Lim became OIC of the station when Superintendent Henry Biñas was temporarily sent to Naga City to serve as OIC of the Naga police station for a month during the 2010 elections.
Every election period sees a reshuffling of police station chiefs.
Lim made it clear to reporters that the police will leave law abiding citizens alone but will definitely go after lawbreakers.
When asked how the police will deal with Joavan Fernandez, the notorious son of Mayor Socrates Fernandez, Lim said the police won’t touch Joavan if he behaves, he said.
Lim said he is focused on how to prevent the commission of crimes.
Right now, two patrol cars are making the rounds, checkpoints are set up every now and then, and patrolmen will remain in the streets.
Lim said he also plans to set a day of every month for marksmanship, physical exercise which will involve sports, and a dialogue with his men to hear their complaints and suggestions.
But, above all, he will enforce “tamang bihis,†with cash prizes in mind, he said. (FREEMAN)
