Truck runs over man

CEBU, Philippines -  A 32-year-old man died after a truck hit the motorcycle he was driving and ran over him yesterday afternoon along Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

The truck that killed John Nino Co, of barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City was driven by Reynaldo Dazo, 43, married, of barangay Tingub, Mandaue City.

Dazo was to deliver equipment for a stage that was to be set up at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.

The motorcycle and the truck were both heading towards the same direction when the accident happened.

The impact separated the driver from the motorcycle, sending the motorcycle into a hole while Co landed on the pavement.

It was at this instance that the truck ran over Co.

But Dazo alleged he did not know his truck had run over the motorcyclist.

Dazo surrendered to the police.

PO1 Nelson Sadile said a case of reckless imprudence and homicide will be filed against Dazo who is currently detained at the Subangdaku police station.  (FREEMAN)
