Subangdaku flyover closed for 2 days for maintenance

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Starting today until tomorrow, the Subangdaku flyover in barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City will be closed to motorist in connection with the repair of one of its expansion joints by the sixth district Engineering Office of the DPWH.

No vehicles will be allowed to pass through the flyover starting at 9 a.m. today. It will be opened to traffic at 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Renault Ricardo, assistant district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways 7 sixth engineering district office, said the maintenance crew and the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) will work around the clock.

He said the damaged expansion joint has been an inconvenience to motorists.

Ricardo said the expansion joint will be removed and then restored, and then covered with asphalt.

The repair is part of its maintenance work and does not require so much expense, he said.

DPWH conducts quarterly inspections of flyovers and bridges, he said.  (FREEMAN)
