Man wanted for murder in Lapu-Lapu arrested
CEBU, Philippines - A man wanted for cases of murder and frustrated murder was wounded during a shootout with the police in barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday afternoon.
Demetrio Malingin, Jr. a resident of barangay Mactan was brought to the Mactan Doctors Hospital for a wound on his right ankle.
Chief Inspector Condrado Manatad, chief of Station 2 in barangay Mactan, said Malingin was under surveillance for a month for his pending cases.
Manatad said Malingin was also involved in illegal drugs.
A warrant of arrest for murder and frustrated murder against Malingin was issued by Lapu-Lapu Regional Trial Court Presiding Judge Victor Teves of Branch 54.
Malingin allegedly tried to escape by engaging the police in a shootout.
He was wearing a bullet proof vest.
Police seized two loaded .45 caliber pistols and shabu, which is estimated to fetch P135,000 in the streets.
Malingin and his brothers, Jay and Deo, are accused of killing Prima Paquibot. The two brothers are still at large.
Police said Deo Malingin acted as lookout while his brothers Demetrio and Jay Malingin strafed the house of Jay Aying, killing his wife Prima.
Demetrio is also accused of killing last year Jay Aying’s brother, Roy. (FREEMAN)
