Fernandez eyes property for access road
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez is pressing the city council to acquire a private lot in barangay Lawaan so that the city can proceed with its plan to make an access road through it that would lead to the new public market in barangay Lagtang.
In his letter addressed to Vice Mayor Alan Bucao and the Members of the City Council, Fernandez said he wants the lot.
The property measures 30,632 square meters.
“One of the primary reasons why Talisay wants to acquire the Lawaan lot is that the city wants to push through with the construction of a circumferential road from the new market to Mananga,” Fernandez said in his letter dated December 17.
Last September, the Talisay City council authorized the mayor to negotiate with lot owners Minerva Larawan, Socrates Larawan, and Rustom Larawan.
Fernandez also said the “urgent measure is needed for the immediate implementation of the project.”
The Lagtang Public Market, previously named Gullas-Macapagal Public Market, is now known by its new name, the “New Talisay Public Market.”
The renaming of the market was authored by Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III.
