Talisay workers to get bonus from city gov’t
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government is ready to grant extra cash gifts, now termed as Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI), to its more than 1,000 employees who are compensated through monthly honoraria.
The city council last Tuesday passed a resolution asking Mayor Socrates Fernandez to grant bonuses to all employees including those hired as project base or job order.
Councilor Rodi Cabigas, chairman of the committee on budget and finance, said the city government shouldn’t exceed 55 percent from the allocated salary and cash incentive taken from personal services funds throughout the year so it won’t be disallowed by the Commission on Audit (COA).
“The amount will be charged to any available funds and savings from the personal services allotment as appropriated,” Cabigas said.
Under the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Circular No. 2012-3 with Guidelines on the Grant of Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) to Government Employees for Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 was issued last November 29 to all heads of departments, bureaus, offices, and agencies of national government, including state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), heads of Local Government Units (LGUs), and all concerned.
The DBM 2012 guidelines on PEI bonus states that the payment shall be made no earlier than December 14, 2012. (FREEMAN)
