Garcia gives cash to village for barangay hall’s repair
CEBU, Philippines - Finally, barangay Paknaan now has money to renovate its barangay hall.
Barangay captain Malac Soco of barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City has received cash assistance from Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Last Monday, Garcia gave P250,000 which will be used for the renovation of the barangay hall and the celebration of the barangay’s “Silhig Festival.”
Three hundred sixty sacks of cement were also given for the concreting of the barangay road which leads to the sports complex.
“Nalipay kaayo ta tungod sa pag-turnover sa mga projects dinhi sa among barangay. Dako kaayo ni’ng kalipay ug garbo kanamo’ng mga Paknaanon,” Soco said.
Soco visited Garcia last Nov. 15 to invite her to their barangay for the medical mission organized by the provincial government.
He also followed up the barangay’s request fo assistance for its projects.
“Nangatubang si Kapitan Soco ngadto sa Kapitolyo dili alang sa iyang kaugalingon kun dili alang sa pinalanggang barangay,” Garcia said.
The Cebu Integrated Provincial Health Office medical and dental team held a free check-up for the elderly in barangay Paknaan for the “Halad sa Gugma Alang Kang Lolo ug Lola” program of the Cebu Provincial Government. Senior citizens were extended free medical consultations to monitor their cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
They also received “halad kits” which contained eyeglasses, two kilos of rice, and medicines.
A memorandum of agreement was signed by Garcia and the women’s organization in barangay Paknaan for the “Bugasan sa Kababayen-an,” a program where the provincial government will give ten sacks of NFA (National Food Authority) rice as their starting capital.
Another memorandum of agreement was also signed which will facilitate the formal turnover of a multi-cab to the barangay. (FREEMAN)
