“Jealous” man, 52, held for beating girlfriend, 26

CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested a 52-year-old man for beating his girlfriend inside an entertainment bar in barangay Guizo, Mandaue City at around 4 a.m. yesterday dawn.

Raul Noval, married, and a resident of barangay Alang-alang was picked up by the police after the management of Golden Eye Bar sought help.

Noval is said to work for the establishment as a waiter while his girlfriend Shovie dela Cruz, 26, single, of barangay Subangdaku also worked as an entertainer.

Police said Noval was tipsy when he saw his girlfriend entertaining a customer.

Without a word, he approached his girlfriend and struck her on the head.

 The woman was immediately taken by her fellow entertainers to the Mandaue City Hospital while Noval was taken to the Centro Police station.

He remains detained pending the filing of an appropriate case against him. — (FREEMAN)
