CEBU, Philippines - A marine engineering student of a university in Mandaue City was caught in the act by the police Friday evening selling shabu near the school to a poseur buyer. The suspect was identified as Luke Evenacer Alvarillo, 18, temporarily residing in sitio Oplok in barangay Looc, Mandaue City but a native of Handang town in Leyte. He is a third year student taking up B.S Marine Engineering. Alvarillo was arrested by a team led by Opao police station chief P Sr./Insp Stephen Amamag-id after two months of surveillance. The police arrested Alvarillo after he handed alleged shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P250. Also seized from Alvarillo were other illegal drugs. Amamag-id said Alvarillo’s fellow students reported his drug dealings to the police who found out that he dispatches shabu in 20 packets in a week but during interrogation, Alvarillo refused to divulge his source of the illegal drugs. Charges are being readied against him. In another development, men from the Basak police station and the Centro police station arrested Friday afternoon a widower selling illegal drugs near a hotel in barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City.

Fernando Prada, of legal age, and resident of barangay Guizo, was arrested by a team led by P Sr./Insp Wilson Abot and P C/Insp. Jimmy Aguisanda near the hotel at around past 1 p.m. Friday after handing over alleged shabu to a poseur buyer.

More shabu was seized from him when frisked. Abot said the man has been selling illegal drugs to girls who work in the bars in the area. His arrest came after a bar girl tipped the police. The suspect is now detained at the Centro police station.  (FREEMAN)
