Mandaue honors public teachers

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government Friday honored  80 public school teachers and principals who have taught in the city for 25 years or more during a simple celebration of the World Teacher’s Day” at the conference room of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division office in Mandaue City.

The honorees were given a certificate of appreciation and P10,000. At present, the checks are still being processed.

They can claim their checks at the City Treasurer’s Office when these are ready for distribution.

The cash awards were granted to them by the city council through an ordinance authored by city councilor Demetrio “Jun” Cortes in recognition for their service.

The affair was attended by Mayor Jonas Cortes and city councilors.

“Kung wa pa ang mga maestra di ko mahimong politica karon,” Cortes said in his speech.  (FREEMAN)
