Talisay opposition councilor questions SP's approval of permit to land developer
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City council approved the application for Development Permit for an expansion of a private housing development in barangay Dumlog but opposition Councilor Valeriano Ylanan wants to be sure that the rules and regulations especially those concerning the city’s drainage plan are complied with.
“Atong makita kung mokusog ang uwan, grabe na baya pud ang baha,” Ylanan said.
But Councilor Rodi Cabigas, chairman of the committee on Public Works and Infrastructures, said the committee has granted a permit to Deca Homes Baywalk expansion project after having complied with all the necessary requirements for complex subdivision and granted with the required Certificate of Environmental Commitment Certificate.
The subdivision project contains an area of 98,501 square meters.
Cabigas said any development project is still subject to periodic monitoring of the Board in the exercise of its regulatory mandate and functions.
And if there is any falsehood and material misrepresentation in connection with this application for scheme approval shall be valid cause for its revocation, Cabigas said.
“The drainage system of said complex subdivision must be completely and appropriately installed so as not to adversely affect the neighboring barangays, and no activity other than that applied for shall be conducted within the site,” Cabigas added.
Cabigas, however, assured the public that in case of any untoward incident that may be caused by the project, the project proponent shall coordinate with Talisay to check and protect the lives and properties of the affected residents.
“Any complaint against said complex subdivision, if found valid after due hearing or any violation or non-compliance with any of the above conditions shall be sufficient cause for the revocation of this Development Permit,” he said. (FREEMAN)
