Minor found with marijuana during arrest for 'trespassing'

- Flor Z. Perolina - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - A 15-year-old boy was arrested last Friday for trespassing, but police found two rolls of marijuana in his possession.

The boy, a resident of Barangay Pulpogan in Consolacion, was arrested in Barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City where he entered the premises of a house owned by the Montecillo family around 3:30 a.m.

The caretaker of the house who saw the boy climb over the fence quickly sought the help of their policeman neighbor, SPO3 Marcos Noval Jr.

Noval said the caretaker sought for his help for fear that the boy would steal from the house. The caretaker also suspected that it was the boy who stole two Arowana fishes placed in an aquarium outside the house last week.

During his arrest, police found two marijuana sticks from the boy’s possession. The boy is currently detained at the Subangdaku Police station pending the filing of charges against him for trespassing and for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Meanwhile, authorities failed to arrest three minors who were found acting suspiciously in Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Cambaro in Mandaue City last Friday afternoon.

PO2 Jese Villarino said he and three tanods were patrolling the barangay for "Oplan Bakal Sita" when they noticed the three minor boys acting suspiciously.

When they tried to approach the boys, the three reportedly ran away and threw something to the ground. It turned out, it was a caliber .38 revolver with six live ammunitions that the boys got rid of.

Villarino said they tried to chase the boys but to no avail. The gun was turned over to the Opao Police station for proper disposition. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
