CEBU, Philippines - Miguel Antonio Magpale, the son of Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, took his oath yesterday as new member of the provincial board representing the fifth district of Cebu.
The oath was first administered by Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III and then by Municipal Trial Court in Cities presiding Judge Ma. Josefa Ramos.
The appointment of Magpale was signed by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III on Aug. 16, 2012 or before the death of DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.
PB Magpale said he will continue the program started by his mother when she was still a member of the provincial board.
“Today, I will enter the wider realm of local governance to serve a bigger public - our beloved fifth district and the rest of the province of Cebu,” said PB member Magpale.
The shoes to fill up are quite huge, but I will work very hard to do my best to show everyone that I am worthy of the position, said Magpale.
Miguel was the vice president for administrative services of the North Eastern Cebu Colleges, which is owned by the Magpale family before he was elected as city council member in Danao City last May 10, 2010 election.
He finished Communication Arts and Marketing Management at De La Salle University.
He took up a Master’s Degree in Education Management at Cebu Doctors University.
He is married to businesswoman Christine Lim. They have a 1-year-old son.
Miguel is the youngest son of Vice Governor Magpale.
He replaced his mother, Agnes, who assumed the post vacated by the late Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr. (FREEMAN)
