Talisay to sell parcels of land to urban poor

- Garry B. Lao - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor Dennis Basillote, who is the chairman of the committee on shelter, urban poor and rural development, filed a resolution authorizing Mayor Socrates Fernandez to enter into a contract of sale for the sale and transfer of parcels of land owned by the city government in favor of three homeowners associations.

The city owns parcels of land, which is presently being developed as an Urban Poor Housing Relocation site located at sitio Caneba, Cansojong, in Zone 5, Mohon, and at sitio Pangpang, San Isidro.

Basillote said the beneficiaries of the urban poor housing relocation site have organized themselves into non-stock, non-profit association.

“The association has applied for a loan under the Localized Community Mortgage Program (LCMP) with the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) with the City of Talisay as originator,” Basillote said.

One of the requirements for the release of the Letter of Guarantee (LOG) from the SHFC in connection with the loan is to transfer the title of the parcels of land used as urban poor housing relocation site from the City of Talisay to CHOA.

In his proposed resolution, which will be deliberated Tuesday, Basillote wants Fernandez to enter into a contract for the sale and transfer of the parcels of land owned by the city in favor of the association and to sign a deed of absolute sale and other documents in connection thereto. (FREEMAN)
