200 Banilad residents avail of barangayan services
CEBU, Philippines - More than 200 residents availed of free services from front line departments of the city government of Mandaue during a “barangayan” held Sunday in barangay Banilad.
Mayor Jonas Cortes, in his speech, said “barangayan” is part of the city’s program of bringing the government closer to the people.
The one-day barangayan was the fifth of its kind the last being held in barangay Jagobiao.
Record from the mayor’s office showed that more than 200 availed of free medical, dental check-up, and medicines offered by volunteer doctors as well as doctors and dentists from city health office.
Many also availed of free hair cut, manicure, pedicure, and reflexology from instructors and students of the Mandaue City College Technological, Entrepreneurial, Skills Training (MCCTEST).
Barangay Banilad captain Dianne Bercede said residents from blighted areas took advantage of the free services.
Other services included free legal services, castration and anti-rabies vaccination for pets by the city veterinary office, issuance of community tax clearance and documents from civil registrar’s office, free home-made Clorox, and tiles and toilet bowl cleaners from city cooperative office, among others.
