CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said the youth can help in the development of the city through social media.
Speaking during the recognition of Alay Lakad contingents last Sunday, Radaza said social media is the mode of communication and conversation of tomorrow.
Radaza said Facebook and Twitter and a buffet of social networking sites aided by smart phones provide real time updates on issues and events.
The availability of these technologies allow us to become a participative citizenry, the mayor said.
“To our youth, you are considered digital natives. You live and breathe ‘Facebook’ and ‘Twitter,’” Radaza said.
“Our city has a fast growing ‘Facebook’ page. I invite you to go to facebook.com/lapulapucity. Press like to get updates on what is going on in our city,” she said.
She told the youth to post their concerns on “our Facebook wall” or simply PM them if they have any question.
She said if they have a need to know what is going on in the city, they can follow the city on twitter by going to twitter.com/lapulapucity.
“Sa Facebook page sa Lapu-Lapu City pwede ninyo isuwat ang inyong mga concerns. Pwede ninyo ipaabot inyong mga suggestion para sa atong siyudad. Kahibaw ba mo, aduna nay akong gi aksyonan tungod kay naabot nako gumikan sa Facebook?” Radaza said. (FREEMAN)
