CEBU, Philippines - A list of names of policemen to choose from as possible replacement for Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac as director of the Mandaue City Police Office has been signed by Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 director.
However, upon the new order of Philippine National Police Chief Nicanor Bartolome, a police director can extend his service based on the recommendation of the local chief executive.
Among those in the list are Sr. Supt. Mariano Natu-el, chief of the Regional Logistics Division; Sr. Supt. Eddie Binigay, of the PNP Maritime; Sr. Supt. Erson Digal; chief of the Regional Operation and Plans Division; Sr. Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin, chief of the Regional Personnel and Human Resources and Development Division; and Sr. Supt. Mariano Batiancela, of the Regional Headquarters Service Group.
Garbo said Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes can choose a policeman who is not included in the list.
Gillamac has been in the service even before Cortes was elected mayor.
Meanwhile, lawyer Jamaal Calipayan, executive secretary of Mayor Jonas Cortes, yesterday said so far the mayor has not yet received the list of five recomendees for MCPO director.
It was learned from Calipayan that in March this year, Cortes wrote a letter to the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo asking for an extension of term for MCPO director Noel Gillamac until the mayor can chose a city director out of the five names that will be submitted to him.
However Mandaue City has not yet received any reply from the DILG to the letter request.
According to Calipayan , the city has acknowledge that Gillamac’s tour of duty has already expired but such letter was made because the mayor doesn’t want that an Officer In Charge (OIC) will take over his post while the mayor is still choosing a replacement for Gillamac. (FREEMAN)
