DPWH clears road in Talisay after landslide

- Garry B. Lao - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Motorists can now pass through the Talisay-Toledo Wharf Access Road after the City Engineering Department and the Department of Public Works and Highways cleared the way yesterday morning.

Last Monday, residents living along the mountain side of barangay Camp 4 evacuated and motorists struggled to get through.

Barangay Camp 4 chief Jun Cabingatan said the landslide was the third one in recent days.

Last Sunday, another landslide covered part of the access road, but construction personnel cleared the debris.

Cabingatan said no one was hurt in the landslide but almost damaged some houses near the road.

Cabingatan blamed the contractor of the Department of Public Works and Highways for not attending to the P34-million road widening project of the Toledo Wharf access road.

The project is seen to help prevent accidents in the narrow portions of the road, which exits to Lutopan in Toledo City.  – THE FREEMAN
