CEBU, Philippines - An 18-year-old man and a juvenile were arrested by policemen after allegedly robbing jeepney passengers Wednesday evening while the vehicle was in front of the University of Cebu-UCLM in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Christopher Batac, 18, and a 16-year-old were positively identified by Emilou Dela Rama, 22, of barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City and Michelle Undag, 34, of barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City as the ones who took their cash and personal belongings.

Dela Rama lost a Samsung cellular phone and P250 while Undag lost her jacket and P1,000.

Opao police station chief P Sr./Insp. Stephen Amamag-id said the jeepney only had four passengers at the time. Aside from Batac and the juvenile, two others that were involved in the robbery were not located, he said.

He said only two of the four victims went to the barangay hall in Alang-alang to seek assistance but were referred to the barangay hall in Umapad, which referred them to the Opao police station.

The women and the police began to look for the robbers and found them at their residences near the Bantayan sa Hari in barangay Looc.

Both suspects are now detained at the Opao police station.  – THE FREEMAN
