CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) North District Office will soon transfer to a spacious place at the rooftop of the New Mandaue City Public Market located at the back of the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Yesterday BIR-7 director Hermeno Palamine, Mandaue City North Revenue District manager lawyer Evangeline Abanilla, Assistant legal revenue chief lawyer Neri Yu and Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes yesterday signed a memorandum of agreement which indicate that the BIR North revenue office will start renting the rooftop of the tri-level public market starting this month up to September 2013. The contract is renewable.
The rent will be at P250,000 per month, the same amount the office paid at barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue city.
Abanilla said the place at the new public market was considered because the area is spacious and the parking area can accommodate 300 cars.
The transfer of the revenue district office to the new public market is expected to spur the economy in the area.
A bank is expected to be put up nearby for obvious reasons.
The north revenue office caters to the four cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Danao, and Bogo and 23 other towns in the north.
Mayor Jonas Cortes said that aside from the BIR, the Registry of Deeds which is also currently holding office at Highway Seno in barangay Subangdaku will soon transfer near the public market.
