Woman, 64, found dead at home
CEBU, Philippines - A 64-year-old retired accountant was found dead at home in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
Ligaya Dungon, a cosmetic dealer and a pensioner, was discovered by a grandson at past 8:00 a.m. yesterday.
Missing were Dungon’s shoulder bag and two cellular phones.
The grandson found Dungon lying face down on her bed, with nothing on except a bra, her bathrobe wrapped around her head, and her sex organ bleeding.
When the police, led by SPO1 Allan Pantaleon, arrived, they cordoned the area and limited the number of relatives who could enter the house to avoid polluting evidence.
“Nagkagubot man ang mga butang sulod sa iyang balay, posible nga nangukay pa ang kawatan,” Pantaleon said.
They also found an opening in Dungon’s room just above the window grills, which was wide enough for a person to enter.
P/Insp. Precilo Libato, SOCO team leader said, they could hardly find latent prints in the crime scene.
Around 1:00 p.m., Dungon’s only son Archie Dungon, 33, arrived and said his mother never got into trouble.
Archie said he and her mother often argued because he wanted her to hire a house help or a relative who would look after her. He said his mother preferred to live alone.
Although he lives with his wife in Naga City, Cebu when he got married, he visited his mother thrice a week.
He said his mother had reported two burglaries this year to the barangay hall, the previous one taking place more than a couple of months ago. His mother was out during the break-in.
The police theorize that the burglar or burglars in yesterday’s burglary could have been inside the house when the woman arrived at around 10 p.m.
Violeta Dakay, a neighbor, said that prior to the discovery of the death of Dungon yesterday, she dreamed she was shouting for help.
“Mao dyud akong namat-an sa dihang nagdamgo ko nga nagsiyagit ug nangayo ug niingon nga tabang, tabang mga silingan si ate Ligaya,” Dakay said.
