Lapu-Lapu closes 25 erring establishments
CEBU, Philippines - Since the creation of WE CARE Task Force, the Lapu-Lapu City government has closed 25 establishments for violating city ordinances.
“We CARE” stands for “City’s Advocacy for Responsible Enterprise.”
“As our city progresses, establishments such as amusement centers, billiard and dart halls, and internet cafés proliferate,” Mayor Paz Radaza said.
The mayor said she has received complaints from parents regarding the operation of some of establishments that admit students during class hours even though ordinances prohibit the practice.
Radaza has asked teachers, school officials, and parents through the Parents Teachers Community Association to be vigilant.
This task force is in charge of implementing the city ordinances, Radaza said.
“Mao kini nagseguro nga mapatuman ang ordinansa nga nag-dili sa pagpasulod sa mga tinun-an sa mga internet cafés sa oras sa tingklase kung walay written consent sa maestro o kuyog nga ginikanan ug pagregulate sa mga videoke bars, billiard and dart halls ug tanang balay kahilayan,” she said.
However, Radaza said the campaign initiated by her office will not succeed without the support and cooperation of the public.
“Maong gi-awhag nako ang tanan sa pagtaho sa atong buhatan kung aduna kamoy makit-an nga nakalapas sa maong balaodnon aron mapahamtangan sa tukmang silot,” she said. (FREEMAN)
